Science

At St. Mary's CEP, our aim is to give children an INCLUSIVE and diverse science curriculum which enables them to explore and discover the world around them, confidently, so that they have a deeper and caring understanding of the world we live in, be responsible citizens, and flourish.

Children are naturally curious and passionate about learning; we provide a stimulating, aspirational science curriculum that nurtures children’s natural curiosity and their continuous intellectual development. Through hands-on and inquiry-based learning, children will experience the joy of exploration and discovery through investigations. Our goal is that these stimulating and challenging experiences help children secure and extend children's scientific knowledge and vocabulary. 

PE

Our PE curriculum is delivered by class teachers through the Get Set 4 PE scheme of learning. We ensure that pupils of all abilities can access a range of physical activities that enable them to develop their enthusiasm and skills needed to lead healthy, active lives.

At St. Mary's CEP, practitioners provide an engaging and challenging curriculum to support children to learn, develop and secure all the fundamental skills and basic rules of PE (movement, spatial awareness, sending & receiving and hand-eye co-ordination).

Children will be encouraged to take part in team games and independent sports activities where they interact with others. They will develop an understanding of sportsmanship and teamwork, whilst nurturing a healthy sense of competition.

Computing

At St. Mary’s CEP, we aim to give our pupils the life-skills that will enable them to embrace and utilise new technology in a socially responsible and safe way. We equip our pupils with the knowledge and expertise that can be built upon to enhance their education and aspirational futures.  We promote independence to build confidence and enjoyment from their activities, yet, educate them on potential dangers, ensuring online safety.

Technology is used to support the inclusive curriculum in addition to enabling curriculum accessibility for every diverse child. We aspire our children to be digitally literate and competent, as well as provide opportunities for them to flourish in developing their creativity, resilience, problem-solving and critical thinking skills. 

We enable our pupils to have a breadth of experience to develop their spiritual understanding of themselves and the world they are part of; identifying their responsibility as caring digital citizens.
