"This school serves its local community with a deeply caring and welcoming ethos" Ofsted
At St Mary’s CEP, we are proud to be a welcoming, inclusive and aspirational school at the heart of our community. We believe that every child is unique, valued and loved, and that every child has the opportunity to flourish, achieve and discover their own potential.
Our Christian Vision is at the centre of who we are and everything we do:
“Through the loving example of Jesus Christ, we strive to provide opportunities for all members of our diverse school community to flourish within a caring, aspirational, spiritual and inclusive environment.
We aim to create successful learners, confident individuals and responsible citizens ready to take the next steps in life.”
These words are more than a statement; they are the foundation of our school community; we seek to create an environment where every child and adult feels valued, respected, supported and encouraged to be the best that they can possibly be.
Our Christian Values of Peace, Friendship, Respect, Trust and Perseverance are woven through daily life at St Mary’s CEP. They guide the way we treat one another, the way we approach our learning and the way we respond to the challenges that we face. We want our children to develop kindness, courage, resilience and compassion, whilst understanding the importance of positive relationships and making a difference to others.
Our Christian Narrative, Matthew 5:14–16, reminds us that we are called to be “the light of the world” and to let our light shine. This is a message that resonates strongly with our vision for every child. We believe that every child has their own unique gifts, talents and qualities, and we want them to have the confidence to discover these and let their light shine brightly.
At St Mary’s CEP, we are passionate about providing an exciting and creative curriculum that enables children to be curious, enthusiastic and motivated learners. In addition, our highly skilled teaching staff support children to become confident, independent and well-rounded individuals, developing a deep and lifelong capacity for learning.
We believe that learning is for life. Our ambition is for every child to become a successful learner, a confident individual and a responsible citizen. We want our pupils to leave us equipped not only with the knowledge and skills they need for the future, but also with the character, confidence and values to make a positive contribution to the world around them.
We recognise that children thrive when schools and families work together. Strong partnerships with parents and carers play an important part in a child’s education, and we greatly value the contribution that families make to our school community. We always welcome your views, thoughts and feelings and believe that open, honest and positive communication enables us to provide the very best for every child.
Thank you for visiting our website. I hope it provides you with a glimpse of the wonderful opportunities, relationships and experiences that make St Mary’s CEP such a special place to learn, grow and belong.
If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us.
With very best wishes,
Mr Matthew Lamprell
Headteacher
